The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection, and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government is inviting applications from versatile qualified candidates to fill vacant positions in Domestic Taxes.

Job Title: Revenue Officer

Location: Various Domestic Stations

Grade: ЕЗ

Organisational Unit : Domestic Taxes Division

MAIN FUNCTION:

Managing the collection of taxes and compliance with tax laws and regulations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Identifying and registering new taxpayers, cleaning the tax registers.
  2. Conducting physical and compliance surveillance and gathering information for new tax registration.
  3. Building and maintaining relationships with taxpayers through interactions, providing assistance and guidance regarding tax-related matters.
  4. Delivering a full range of tax services in compliance with tax laws and regulations within time frame.
  5. Monitoring the submission of returns and payment of taxes for the relevant taxes ensuring that returns and payments are submitted and paid in time.
  6. Processing tax refund claims for eligible taxpayers and ensuring timely disbursements of funds.
  7. Enforcing tax collection by identifying and pursuing defaulters issuing demand notices and taking appropriate actions for the recovery of outstanding taxes.
  8. Conducting tax audits of individuals and businesses to verify the accuracy.
  9. Resolving tax-related disputes and appeals filed by taxpayers through administrative procedures or legal channels.
  10. Utilising data analytics to identify potential tax evasion and noncompliance patterns.
  11. Any other duties assigned to from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Mathematics, Statistics Data Science / Analytics obtained from a recognised and accredited university.
