1. The Government of Malawi through the Ministry of Water and Sanitation is implementing the Groundwater Extraction for Rural Piped Water Project whose aim is to improve the health and socio economic well-being of the people in the rural areas in the 193 Constituencies across the 28 districts in Malawi through the provision of piped water systems using groundwater source and using solar energy provision of piped water systems using groundwater source and using solar energy. This is in line with the Global Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 6 to provide Water and Sanitation for all by 2030 as well as the Malawi 2063 agenda for transforming Malawi into a Middle-income Economy.
2. The Ministry of Water and Sanitation now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders, registered with National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) under Civil Works class in the MK1 Billion and above category and Borehole specialised category for the Construction of 6 Solar Powered Groundwater Source Water Supply Systems in 5 Districts in Malawi.
3. Bidding will be conducted through Open tendering – National Competitive Bidding (NCB) according to the procurement and laws of the Malawi Government.
4. The works have been packaged into lots as follows

NB: The ministry is currently managing similar contracts under the same project, designated as Lot 1 to 3. To ensure continuity and alignment, the two new lots being advertised will be referred to as Lot 4 and Lot 5
5. The bidding document in English may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders from the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of MK 20,000.00 per Lot. The method of payment will be in cash or bank certified cheque. The document will be physically picked by interested bidder upon production of evidence of payment.
6. Bids in sealed envelopes clearly marked “Construction of 6 Solar Powered Groundwater Source Water Supply Systems in 5 Districts in Malawi” should be deposited in the Tender box placed at the Entrance, MANOBEC BUILDING, OFF MASUKU ROAD, NEXT TO ACB, CITY CENTRE, LILONGWE, before 30th August, 2024, at 14:00 Hrs. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted.
7. Bid opening will be done in the presence of bidder’s representatives and general public on 30th August, 2024, at 14:00 Local Time in at the address below. Late Bids will be rejected
