The United States African Development Foundation (USADF) is an independent agency of the United States Government. USADF was created by the U.S. Congress in 1980 to support African-driven, grass root solutions to economic problems in African communities.Currently, USADF invests seed capital in grassroots, small and growing African enterprises, promotes local economic development and creates pathways to prosperity for underserved communities. The USADF model promotes self-reliant, community driven, African designed and delivered development solutions that create pathways to prosperity for vulnerable, marginalized and underserved populations in over 20 countries. USAD invests directly in early-stage African community and social enterprises and utilizes in country project management and business advisory experts to improve the lives and livelihoods of those at “the last mile” – those beyond the reach of other developmental initiatives.
USADF develops, grows, and links African grassroots, small and medium -sized enterprises to U.S. trading partners. Currently, USADF funds local offices in 21 countries in Africa, helping the continent address some of its biggest challenges, including food insecurity, energy access, and women and youth unemployment. USADF offers Enterprise Expansion Grants (EEG) up to the equivalent of US$250,000 in Malawi Kwacha, and Organizational Assistance Grants (OAG) up to the equivalent of US$100,000 in Malawi Kwacha, directly to community groups and enterprises.
In Malawi, USADF has engaged UMODZI Consulting as its local partner to work hand in hand with its Country Project Coordinator (CPC) to manage its USAD grantees. Grantees will from time to time seek the services of technical advisors in various fields to offer them technical support.
Grantees directly engage competent technical advisors that meet their selection criteria.
Interested Service Providers are therefore requested to submit their Expression of Interest in order to be on the list of prequalified suppliers of services to USADF grantees. Some of the services being solicited to be performed include:

- Partnerships and Stakeholder management
- Financial management
- Food processing and certification
- Production of loan revolving funds g.
- Business planning and Entrepreneurship
- Sales and marketing
- Crop aggregation and marketing
- Team Building
- Risk Management
- Cooperative governance and management systems
- Business mentorship and coaching
- Baseline and end of project assessment
- Tree crops (macadamia, tea and coffee)
Submission Date
Those interested should submit their applications electronically to the following email address: info@umodziconsulting.com by 12th July, 2024. The maximum number of pages for the expression of interest should be 20, but can be less than 20. Submitted Eol must clearly be marked
“Expression of Interest for Provision of Services to USADF Grantees” and the specific name of the service under application.

- Business Registration Certificate
- Tax Clearance Certificate.
