1. The Government of Malawi has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the SADC Sub-Regional Transport and Trade Facilitation Project, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the contract for Provision of Training Services in Road Construction and Maintenance (Individual Consultant).

2. The services included under this assignment are, but not limited to:

  1. Provision of different types of training services related to road construction and maintenance
  2. Transfer knowledge and skills to youths and women through training related to road construction sector or subsectors.
  3. Provision of preliminary training for women and the youth aimed at building their confidence to take up jobs during construction and operation of the road.

3. The duration of the assignment is 4 months.

4. The Roads Authority now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, copies of certificates, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.).

5. The Individual Consultant should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  1. The Consultant should possess a university degree or its equivalent in the field of training(s) and/or Civil Engineering.
  2. The Consultant shall have at least 5 years of working experience in relevant field.
  3. The Consultant shall have traceable established expertise in working on similar assignments relevant to the type of training(s) requested, with particular experience in the construction sector and subsectors.
  4. Those with teaching experience shall have an added advantage.
  5. Proven track record of in-country experience.

6. Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Procurement Framework dated October 2015, ” which is available on the Bank’s website at https://www.afdb.org/en/projects-and-operations/procurement/new-procurement-policy.

7. A consultant will be selected in accordance with the Individual Consultant method set out in the Procurement Policy.

8. Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours (07:30 – 16:30).

9. Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by 4th December 2024 at 16:30 hours and mention “Expression of Interest – Provision of Training in Road Construction and Maintenance (Individual Consultant)”.
