AUDITING SERVICES
BRIEF ABOUT CONGOMA
The Council for NGOs in Malawi (CONGOMA) is a membership umbrella organization for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Malawi. CONGOMA is a designated NGO coordinating body in Malawi as stipulated in Section 24 of the Non-governmental Organizations Act 2000 (amended 2022).
Membership to CONGOMA is open to National and International NGOs and stands at 1,800 in total as of June 30, 2024. The control, accountability and responsibility for ongoing operations of CONGOMA are exercised on behalf of CONGOMA Members by six Trustees, a Governing Council of nine NGOs, a Finance and Administration Committee of six NGOs and a Standards Committee of six NGOs chosen by Membership, elected by them and accountable to them.
Trustees, Governors and Committee Members work on voluntary basis. Implementation of CONGOMA policies and operations is undertaken by the Secretariat.
PURPOSE OF EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
CONGOMA is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to audit its financial statements for the financial year ended 31st December 2023, with the option of auditing the financial statements for the future financial years.
REQUIREMENTS
- The Auditor should be experienced in auditing donor funded projects.
- The Auditor must be registered with ICAM and Malawi Accountants Board (MAB) and has a practicing licence.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the provision of audit services.
- Capacity to manage the audit according to agreed time frame.
SUBMISSION OF THE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST(EOI)
The EOl should include the following:
- Number of audit professionals employed and their designation
- Description of the Auditors’ experience in providing audit services to donor funded organisations
- A brief description of audit services rendered to at least 4 clients in the last 2 years
- Eligibility-accreditation to conduct audits
- Indicative professional fees in the following brackets of expenditure

Interested audit firms are invited to submit their applications no later than 12:00 noon on 27th September 2024 to the address below. Those who had expressed their interest in June 2024 should not apply again.
