Call for Expression of Interest to Undergo Training Course on Solar Photovoltaic Installation

CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO UNDERGO TRAINING COURSE ON SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC INSTALLATION UNDER THE MCTU/ECAM VOCATIONAL RENEWABLE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU) in collaboration with Employers Consultative Association of Malawi (ECAM) which are the most representative workers’ and employers’ organization in Malawi, hereby call all interested youth, young women/girls and workers to apply for a short course in Solar Photovoltaic installation. MCTU and ECAM are implementing a Vocational Skills Development project under Zantchito Skills for Jobs in Malawi funded by the EU-Malawi Delegation that aims at improving access to relevant skills in renewable energy. For the next three years; MCTU and ECAM in collaboration with training institutions regulated by TEVETA will conduct customized short-term training in solar photovoltaic installation.

The students will be required to undergo a six months training in class and be attached to industry for three months in order to gain practical experience. Upon successfully completion of the training the trainee will be awarded a certificate of Competence in Solar Photovoltaic Installation.

The call will also be advertised through district councils and the application forms can be collecte from the District Labour Office.

Eligibility to enroll: This tailor-made training course is targeting students under the age of 35 years or workers with any of the following qualities:

  1. A strong interest to work on solar energy;
  2. Have a Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) those with MSCE; strong grades in Mathematics and Science and English subjects will have an added advantage;
  3. Those without JCE but have strong practical background and knowledge in electrical or solar installation.
  4. Ability to read and write.

NOTE:

This is a fully funded program where MCTU/ECAM will meet the costs related to the training (tuition fee and attachment upkeep allowance only)

Young women and youths are encouraged to apply

Youths from households’ recipient of social cash transfer (Mtukula Pakhomo) Programme are encouraged to apply

Attach copies of Certificates and National Identify Card.
