CALL FOR EXPERTS TO ENHANCE CAPACITY OF POLICYMAKERS AND PRIVATE SECTOR ON AFCFTA (TRADE IN SERVICES, TRADE NEGOTIATION, DIGITAL TRADE, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is one of the Flagship Projects of Agenda 2063 Africa’s development frameworks. The AfCFTA aims at accelerating intra-African trade and boosting Africa’s trading position in the global market by strengthening Africa’s common voice and policy space in global trade negotiations.

The EU-TAF to support the AfCFTA and Continental Economic Integration is a technical assistance facility financed by the EU, Germany, France, and Sweden and jointly implemented by GIZ, Expertise France, and FIlAPP. The EU-TAF provides demand-driven technical assistance to the stakeholders involved in the AfCFTA processes, including the AfCFTA Secretariat, the African Union Commission (AUC) and its specialized agencies, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), AU Member States, and continental and regional private sector organizations.

As part of the EU-TAF Support to the AfCFTA and Continental Economic Integration, GIZ is partnering with the Malawi Ministry of Trade to enhance the capacity of AfCFTA stakeholders in order to support the implementation of AfCFTA. The GIZ AfCFTA Support Programme is seeking services of qualified consulting firms that can strengthen the capacity of policymakers and the private sector on the following AfCFTA thematic areas:

  1. Trade in services
  2. Trade negotiations
  3. Digital Trade
  4. Intellectual Property Rights
