Job Purpose:
BRANCH MANAGER – (TENABLE AT MPONELA BRANCH)
To lead the branch’s retail and SME banking teams by developing and executing strategic objectives that align with the bank’s broader direction. The Branch Manager is tasked with managing branch profitability, controlling operational and credit risks, and ensuring overall compliance with internal and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. FINANCIAL
- Achievement of the Bank’s Retail Banking’s annual financial targets both P&L, and Balance Sheet.
- Balance Sheet Growth
- Profit Before Tax (PBT)
- Lead the implementation of retail banking strategies in the Branch to ensure balance sheet, revenue, and profitability targets are met.
- Build and maintain strong networks and relationships to help the branch meet its financial objectives.
- Ensure NPLs are contained within the limit set.
2. INTERNAL BUSINESS PROCESSES Risk Mitigation, Compliance & Audit:
- Regularly identify, measure, monitor and control the overall levels of risks in the Transactional business.
- Contribute to the development of branch policies and procedures to maintain a competitive edge while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for the Performance management of all Branch staff ensuring effective target monitoring and correct performance measures are done.
- Minimise exposure to bank wide risks, enforce zero tolerance to non-compliance with KYC and AML regulations.
- Address and resolve any auditor compliance issues within agreed time frames.
3. CUSTOMER
- Driving customer satisfaction, developing and growing relationships with existing and potential customers, identifying opportunities for business development and guiding product development.
- Use customer data and analytics to develop insights that drive business decisions, enhancing product offerings, and aligning them to customer needs.
- Implement strategies for customer retention and loyalty by optimizing the customer journey and delivering consistently high service standards.
- Leverage customer feedback to continuously improve service delivery and branch operations, ensuring the branch remains competitive in the marketplace.
4. LEARNING AND GROWTH
- Provide leadership for the professional development of branch staff through targeted coaching, training, and mentorship, ensuring a highly skilled, motivated, and engaged workforce.
- Conduct regular competency assessments and identify development opportunities for staff, aligning their skills with branch and bank objectives.
- Maintain staff product knowledge at exceptional levels, with regular training sessions to ensure they are fully equipped to offer banking solutions to customers.
- Ensure proper succession planning and workforce readiness by developing talent pipelines within the branch to minimize disruption from staff turnover.
- Foster a performance-driven culture with regular feedback motivation, recognition ensuring that the team consistently achieves or exceeds set performance
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking/Finance/ Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy.
- Minimum of 5 years of banking experience, with at least 3 years at a managerial level and 2 years at an officer level.
