Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO)

Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.

MACRO’s Vision is Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.

With funding from USAID through FHI360, MACRO is bridging gaps to maintain HIV epidemic control. MACRO has received funding to implement activities to ensure the prevention of Gender Based violence amongst AGYWs aged 25-29 years Urban. The program will use the Start, Awareness, Support and Action (SASA) approach, an evidence-based community mobilization approach to prevent violence against women.

Therefore, MACRO is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions.

Position: District Coordinator

Location: Blantyre

Reporting: Project Manager

Job Summary

The District Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation and coordination of the program in the field. Working closely with the Program Manager, the District Coordinator will oversee and facilitate activities at the grassroots level in the district.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, Community Development, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine, Psychiatric Nursing, or any other health-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with the DREAMS& KP program.
  • Training in LIVES gender-based violence response is an added advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HIV and AIDS prevention, counseling and testing, and behavior change interventions.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution and management skills.

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and conducting community mobilization activities including facilitation ofsmall groups and one-on-one community outreach.
  • Facilitating community engagement
  • Acting as a Link between the community and the project
  • Developing and Facilitating Health Education
  • Identifying training gaps within the peer educators
  • Identifying peer educators/leaders/community health workers
  • Managing Peer Educators and Outreach Workers
  • Identifying training gaps within the peer educators
  • Developing and conducting PE training/refreshers
  • Collecting, analyzing and presenting recruitment data
  • Monitoring enrolment goals and modifying the recruitment plan as necessary
  • Reviewing inclusion/exclusion criteria to ensure client eligibility
  • Reviewing the protocol, informed consent form and follow-up procedures
  • Tracing and follow-up of clients
  • Attending and facilitating CME and other trainings as expected by the project
  • Any other duties as per site/project needs
  • Support Clinic activities and clinic team in providing clinical services to the clients
  • Collect and record data related to mobilization/outreach activities/peereducators
  • Outreach Workers data/condom distribution data
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory on Outreach activities
  • Provide regular reports on follow up activities to the PO
  • Attend and participate in collaborative meetings and clinic team meetings
