The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) has established a Centre of Excellence in Transformative Agriculture Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (TACE) to address (i) agribusiness and entrepreneurship; (ii) rural innovations and agricultural extension, which are among the priority areas under ACE II AF. Planning, implementing, and monitoring planned activities for the Center is at the core of what a Manager for the centre shall be offering to TACE. This role, therefore, contributes to addressing the developmental challenge of “Low commercialization and lack of agri-entrepreneurship capacity to transform and industrialize the agriculture sector in Malawi”, that TACE is aiming at addressing.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CENTRE MANAGER
As the Centre Manager for TACE, your main responsibilities will include supporting leadership
in the following areas:
1. Project Planning and Monitoring:
• Assist in the development of project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource
requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure that M&E data is integrated into project activities
and decision-making processes.
• Evaluate Capacity Building Trainings (if required) and prepare training evaluation reports
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Centre leadership or Theme coordinators.
2. Coordination:
• Coordinate the activities of project staff, contractors, and partners to ensure that project
tasks are completed on time and within budget.
• Communicate project progress and issues to project team, stakeholders.
• Liase with administrative assistant to plan for and report on centre events
3. Risk Management:
• Identify and assess project risks, and developing and implementing risk mitigation
strategies.
• Monitor project risks and updating risk management plans as necessary.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Centre visibility:
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including funding partners,
government agencies, project partners, and the media.
• Ensure that stakeholders are informed of project progress, outcomes, and impact, and
responding to their inquiries and concerns.
• Participate in development and implementation of communication campaigns, including
publicity activities and materials generation for the centre.
REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
The Centre Manager shall report to the Centre leadership and work in parallel with the
business incubation and resource mobilization manager. Interns and or project officers
supporting various theme coordinators at the centre will be co-supervised by the centre
manager
DURATION OF CONTRACT
The contract is initially for one year but renewable annually, based on satisfactory
performance. You shall be expected to offer your services on a fulltime basis.
The project will be closing on 31st December, 2025
REMUNERATION
An attractive package in line with Banks policies will be offered to the successful candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Eligible candidates should meet the following requirements:
Possess atleast an undergraduate degree in a management/ statistics/ economics field,Have at least 3 years of experience of managing a project to completion. Those with knowledge and practical experience in running business incubation hubs will have added advantage.
Have a proven track record in the following areas:
- Setting up and managing donor funded projects.
- Data collection and management skills
- Setting up and implementing a monitoring and evaluation system for a project
Have a proven track record as a good planner and time manager with the capacity to address multiple issues at the same time, switch contexts quickly, and oversee the execution of a variety of activities concurrently.
Proficiency in use of excel. Data base,and powerpoint applications.
