World Relief Malawi invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following new positions:

Job Title: Project Officer (1 Position)
Reports to: Programme Manager
Location: Mzimba

ROLE PURPOSE

The primary function of the Project Officer is to ensure that all project activities implemented by WRM in the districts contribute significantly towards the graduation of vulnerable households into sustainable livelihoods. The responsible officer will work with other key stakeholders from Mbelwa District Council. The incumbent will assist in the coordination of project activities and resources including volunteers and ensure achievement of project deliverables within agreed timeframes at the community level.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mobilization and awareness raising with local leadership
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagements
  • Facilitate community led forest friendly enterprises
  • Strengthen the community groups
  • Preparation of periodic operational plans
  • Preparation of progress reports
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of project plans and budgets in collaboration with Project
    Coordinator
  • Coordination of field level human, financial and material resources of the project to ensure efficient resource allocation and utilization for all components;
  • In liaison with the Project Coordinator, facilitate quarterly project technical reviews and planning meetings with the volunteers
  • Maintain close links with the appropriate Government Departments and other organizations (including NGO’s) implementing land reforms, livelihoods, social and gender enhancement related projects in the districts:
  • Managing teams of volunteers aligned to various interventions
  • Entering quarterly savings groups data into Savix MIS
  • Monitoring project activities to ensure smooth project implementation
  • Coaching and mentoring of volunteers to ensure that they achieve their targets and realize program goal

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics, Community Development or equivalent qualification

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least 2 year of experience in similar position
  • Experience in working with busy local or international organization
  • Knowledge and experience of the livelihoods projects
  • Practical experience and or ability to work effectively with relevant governmental ministries, donors, partners, community leaders, and other non-governmental stakeholders preferred
  • Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic reports
  • Computer skills
  • A blend of professional practice and projects management including understanding on project quality assurance standards
  • Experience of financial planning and expenditure monitoring as well as budget management
  • Experience of community participation, ownership and empowerment
  • Valid and Clean Motorcycle Driver’s License
