Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO)
Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.
MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.
With funding from USAID through FHI360, MACRO is bridging gaps to maintain HIV epidemic control. MACRO has received funding to implement activities to ensure the prevention of Gender Based violence amongst AGYWs aged 25-29 years in Lilongwe Urban. The program will use the Start, Awareness, Support and Action (SASA) approach, an evidence-based community mobilization approach to prevent violence against women.
Therefore, MACRO is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position in Zomba.

Reporting to: DIC Manager
Position Overview
Outreach Worker serves hand in hand with Peer Educators reaching out to Key Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in conducting HIV & AIDS awareness campaigns among other duties as listed below.
Qualifications
- MSCE or its equivalent
- Minimum of Diploma in Community Development, HIV and AIDS Management, Social Work or any other related qualification from a reputable institution.
- Previous experience in HIV/AIDS Programing will be added advantage.
- Must be in a reasonably good health and sound state of mind
- Be motivated, enthusiastic, sensitive and have a genuine desire to help others
- Must have no criminal record
Knowledge and Skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Team player
- Familiarity with the language, culture and religious beliefs of the community of Zomba will be an added advantage
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the group of peer educators, monitoring and supervision of peer volunteers.
- Trouble shoot field level outreach issues brought out by peer educators
- Field visit, awareness generation and field counselling
- Development of team work plan/micro-plans
- Organizing advocacy meetings
- Conducting group sessions
- Identification of peer volunteers, stakeholders, condom outlets
- Facilitating the process of capacity building of peer volunteers
- Meeting with the peer volunteers weekly and monthly
- Responsible for weekly report writing, record keeping, MIS
- Maintaining the stocks (medicine, condoms, Lubricants & IEC materials)
- Recording feedback from the community GBV cases follow up, mentorship and monitoring of GBV crisis response teams
- Conducting index contact tracing and follow up of PrEP clients
- Follow up KPLHIV in terms of cohort, ART numbers, VL monitoring and update in DHIS2
- Validate the activeness of hot spots in designated location of influence using necessary tools from the M&E Department
- Support DIC managers and District Coordinators in follow ups on all referrals made at hot spot level and drop in Centre level
- Implementing quicker activities by helping beneficiaries to book their appointments and follow up
- Working hand in hand with the M&E Assistant and Data Clerks in data entry
- Implement monkey survey activities to receive feedback from the beneficiaries
- Distribute HIV self-test kits to beneficiaries (FSWs) and enter the data in DHIS2
- Build good working relationships with health care workers from health facilities in designated location of influence
- Document lessons learnt and challenges to inform program decisions
- Submit timely reports to Outreach worker supervisor
