Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA)
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) is a Statutory body created by an Act of Parliament No. 9 of 2019 with the mandate to regulate medicines and allied substances, pharmacy businesses and the practice of pharmacy in Malawi.
In a bid to strengthen human resource capacity in delivering this mandate, the Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced persons of Malawi origin to fill positions tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe. The following are the details of the vacant positions: –
Position: Internal Audit and Risk Management Officer
Grade: PMRA5
Location: : Head Office
Division:Â Internal Audit and Risk Management
Reporting to : Senior Internal Auditor
Job Purpose
To review, evaluate and enforce accounting, operational and other internal control systems and the application of policies in the Authority.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform investigations on reported or suspected cases of fraud and theft
- Monitor compliance with the laws, regulations, internal policies and other directives and advice accordingly
- Evaluate risk management systems
- Conduct follow-up evaluations on audit recommendations
- Review and verify financial and operating information wherever necessary to ascertain its accuracy
- Evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of operations, processes and risk management policies and procedures
- Perform timely risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual internal audit plan
- Ensure that audit documents and reports are properly filed
- Develop and implement audit and risk management plans and programmes
- Provide support to external auditors and other out-sourced assurance services in their work
- Produce audit and other reports
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in either Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting)
- Must be a member of IAA
- At least 3 years’ experience in auditing/accounting
- Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and to reports
- Professionalism and positive attitude.
- Good communication skills
- Prescribes and believes in the Code of Ethics for Internal Auditors.
- An ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of current professional auditing standards, procedures and reporting requirement
- Knowledge of operating systems and related risks and controls as well as audit techniques for computer applications.
