The Malawi School of Government (MSG) is a unique higher education Statutory Corporation established through Act of Parliament No. 33 of 2022. Our primary mission is to play a pivotal role in shaping Malawi’s present and future by developing and delivering human resource development programmes and enhancing the capacity of the public and private sectors through education and training, research, consultancy, and advisory services. MSG invites suitably qualified, motivated and agile candidates to fill the following positions existing at its secretariat and at the Kanengo Campus (formerly Malawi Institute of Management) and Mpemba Campus (formerly Staff Development Institute):

SENIOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICER – SECRETARIAT

Job Summary: To provide robust information systems support and maintenance management

Key Duties and Responsibilities

System Administration

  1. Develop appropriate and efficient systems, policies and procedures for the entire School.
  2. Provide technical support in the operation of the information management system.
  3. Analyse user requirements for information management systems and ensure effective transition.
  4. Coordinate with various internal groups and managers to resolve current service issues from different departments.
  5. Analyse, identify and provide information system solutions for MSG business Issues.
  6. Perform systems and database administration.
  7. Script tasks to automate systems.
  8. Develop and manage the website.
  9. Develop and maintain system documentation.
  10. Set up and maintain software upgrades and prepare required charts and documentation.

Security

  1. Maintain and secure systems.
  2. Select and test ICT networks and systems.
  3. Establish disaster recovery procedures.

Qualification and other attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related fields from an accredited or recognised institution by the National Council for Higher Education plus any one of the following professional certifications:
    1. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    2. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • Must be a registered member of ICTAM
  • 5 years relevant experience
