CARE Malawi has secured funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, locally titled ‘Tiwoloka’. The funding runs from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2029. CARE Malawi will implement the project in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationists in Malawi (FAWEMA) and Water Aid.
Therefore, CARE Malawi seeks to recruit well qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions within its USDA funded McGovern dole Food for Education program i.e. Tiwoloka Project in Malawi:
DRIVERS (6)
Position Description
The Driver will be responsible for providing transport to program staff, supporting the program in day-to-day administrative support operations. This includes primarily the general errands for delivery of mails, collection of parcels and attending to program visitors.
The incumbent shall report to the Fleet & Administration Officer.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Provide transport to DFSA Program staff on all official assignments and manage all official transport requirements for visiting country office visitors.
- Carry out daily errands to deliver/collect mail, payments and other requirements as assigned.
- Carry out routine vehicle checks on a daily basis, e.g. oil, water, tyre pressure etc; Advise on maintenance and vehicle servicing requirements. Maintain an accurate vehicle logbook.
- Cleaning both interior and exterior of vehicle on a regular basis.
- Participate in programme and other CO activities for learning opportunities.
Required education and experience:
- Malawi School Certificate of Education.
- A clean and valid Driver’s license class C with at least 3 years driving experience driving 4×4 vehicles on gravel roads.
- Grade I mechanical certificate and Defensive Certificate.
- 2 years’ experience in motor vehicle/cycle repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft packages e.g Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, email.
- Ability to write, understand and communicate in English.
