Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Corporate Banking Manager, the incumbent is responsible for growing and retaining a portfolio of high value corporate and institutional, NGO clients by providing proactive, value adding financial and credit products and services, and business analysis, and providing business support on a full array of customized financial products and services tailored to meet the growth needs and potential of the clients.
Key Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
- Conduct regular research to enable relationship managers fully understand clients’ businesses
- Identify and plan for expansion and/or additional business opportunities by developing product matrices and identifying gaps and opportunities for cross-selling.
- Market corporate products to existing and potential corporate customers.
- Cross-sell within the portfolio to improve revenue generation.
- Collect fees and maintain a well updated register to ensure 100% recovery of commissions.
- Record keeping and periodic portfolio reporting and monitoring.
- Opening of new Corporate accounts in flexcube/ Finflows and Corporate
Investments.
Lending support and risk management
- Plan and implement annual credit reviews for the portfolio.
- Deliver credit turnaround times in line with service delivery requirements.
- Provide back office support in completion of credit applications e g. balance sheets, financial statements and management accounts.
- Score credit applications.
- Motivate and process non-scored credit applications.
- Process communication regarding the approval/decline of credit loan facilities.
- Monitor daily referrals to ensure that client facilities are managed within the parameters set by Credit.
- Prepare offer letters for all approved facilities in line with approval conditions.
- Follow through on all approval conditions before drawdown is allowed.
- Follow up on overdue loan repayment instalments.
- Prepare duplicate files for all facilities maintained within the department and submit to Credit Department for their records and update the same with any subsequent credit correspondence.
Client relationship :
- Visit customers to acquire new business, understand customer needs, service delivery and relationship building.
- Deliver quality and timely service delivery for clients.
- Attend to clients queries, and correspondence timely.
- Provide Flex Online user support to the clients.
- Improve utilization of asset and liability business.
- Provide back-office advisory/information/query handling service to relationship managers.
- Process accurately and efficiently customer mandates/ documentation requirements for financial facilities.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing or any business-related field
- 3 years’ experience at officer level in banking in general and in particular in credit analysis and financial statements analysis
- Strong business knowledge of credit analysis and financial statements analysis.
- Strong numerical skills and financial acumen to analyse evaluate and identify trends in financial statements, balance sheets and ratios.
- Sound understanding of cash flow cycles pertaining to the industry being analysed
- Strong knowledge of finance software applications to capture and analyse financial data using financial modelling methods.
- Knowledge in banking practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of Credit principles and practices, including an understanding of credit application, securities and balance sheet requirements.
- Critical thinking: good at probing facts, challenging assumptions, seeing disadvantages.
