CK Cold storage is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions:

Position: Chief Operations Manager

Location: Blantyre

Department: Operations

Reports to: Managing Director

Job Summary

The Chief Operations Manager (COM) will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of farm production and cold storage facilities. This includes but not limited to ensuring optimal product quality, coordinating storage and supply chain processes, managing costs, and maximizing efficiency across the operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and supervising staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating employees to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and oversee the operational strategy for cold storage facilities, ensuring proper temperature, humidity, and storage practices to preserve product quality.
• Overseeing the daily operations of the abattoir and animal farm, including production, animal welfare, and safety.
• Establish vendor relationships for equipment, storage supples, and other operational needs to ensure continuity.
• Ensure that all operations meet industry standards and regulatory compliance, including health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain reports on compliance, audit findings, and corrective actions as required by regulatory
  agencies.
• Analyze financial data and cost structures to identify areas for operational improvement and cost savings.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a master’s degree in Business Administration plus a bachelor’s degree in animal science.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years in operations management, and three years’ experience in cold storage, logistics, and/or farm management.

Required Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff
• Strong knowledge of cold storage best practices, agricultural processes, and supply chain management.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards for food safety and environmental compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of meat processing, animal welfare regulations, and food safety standards.
