The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Malawi (BCMCF-M) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the Malawi Government in the health sector. Our mission is to improve the health and lives of children with HIV, cancer and blood disorders through high quality, high impact, ethical, state of the art comprehensive care and treatment, training of health professionals and clinical research. We are situated within the Kamuzu Central Hospital premises, opposite Kamuzu College of Nursing.

Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation has awarded Baylor College of Medicine Global Health a generous grant of $2.25 million to launch the Comprehensive Cervical Cancer Pilot Initiative in Malawi. This initiative, which will be implemented  at Area 25 Community Hospital , aims to tackle cervical cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Malawi. BCMCF-M invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions of:

Position: Project Manager
Reports to: Maternal Health Program Director
Location:    Area 25 Community Hospital

Position description

The role coordinates and implements the administrative operations of the Cervical Cancer Project, aiming to ensure its effective execution and long-term sustainability. This position is responsible for inputting and enforcing program policies, overseeing internal and external project processes, and managing a variable-sized team (4-40 individuals) depending on the project. Serving as a liaison between Baylor Foundation Malawi and Area 25 Community Hospital, this role ensures strong partnership and program growth.

Essential Duties

  • Implements the Cervical Cancer Project goals and objectives  through strategic planning, project management, and growth initiatives.
  • Manages budget, oversees monthly financial reporting, and ensures timely infrastructure development and management.
  • Coordinates and facilitates educational, clinical, and research projects, maintaining compliance with specified objectives and standard operating procedures.
  • Works closely with the Foundation’s Business Development Manager in executing fundraising efforts, preparing grant proposals, handling  budget planning to support program sustainability
  • In liaison with the Foundation’s HR Manager, oversees staffing needs, recruitment, and training, ensuring team alignment with program policies.
  • Develops strategic communications, dashboards, and reports to engage stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance to donor requirements as regards, reporting, data collection etc
  • Represents the program at events, enhances brand positioning, and organizes campaigns and consultations with external stakeholders, such as EPI and RHD teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in: healthcare administration, nursing, public health or other related field
  • Those with a master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, nursing, public health will have an added advantage
  • Five or more years of experience in project management, especially health related projects and/or support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Chichewa and English.
  • Ability in goals setting.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment is a must.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
