Laboratory Technician

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Check specimens for their condition, acceptability and appropriateness to the test and exceptions are noted.
2. Perform tests according to laboratory standard operating procedures and guidelines.
3. Ensure test results are correctly and legibly entered on the patient report forms and laboratory records.
4. Run quality controls as per guidelines.
5. Complete special assigned work or projects as per instructed.
6. Maintain a neat, sanitary and organised work area. Keep an adequate supply of working materials on hand.
7. Organise work pending and appropriately left for follow up.
8. Report all critical values promptly to the client.
9. Prepare laboratory working reagents.
10. Compile monthly laboratory workload.
11. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
