Principal Health Services Administrator
Grade: G/M 5

Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Health Services Administrator (Grade I/ M7) with a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience at that grade.
Competencies
This is a middle management post in the administration department of the council that provides support services. The post holder is therefore supposed to have sound knowledge of administrative policies for proper translation and implementation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate delivery of Health Services within the Hospital/ district as well as provide full sectoral coordination with partner institutions.
- Responsible for budget formulation, implementation and expenditure control.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Heads of Departments on Planning and Implementation of Projects in liaison with theMinistry of Health.
- Oversee procurement of goods and services for effective and efficient delivery of health care services.
- Provide central liaison role to the hospital and assume advisory role to DHMT by interpreting and enforcing Government/Ministry of Health’s policies.
- Supervise Management of Transport services to effectively support delivery of health services.
- Ensure that infrastructure and medical equipment are in good order and working condition through preventive maintenance in conjunction with Physical Asset Management Division.
- Initiate adequate provision of hospital equipment, machines, drugs, linen, foodstuffs for patients and other related supplies.
- Encourage initiation of various committees as a necessary management tool to enforce collective decision making and accountability.
- Liaise with the Human Resources office to ensure availability of adequate health workers to optimum delivery of services.
- Enforcing Performance Management System through regular appraisals with technical assistance for Human Resources to increase staff motivation and ensure equitable reward compensation.
Senior Medical Officer-Grade: HH

- To ensure effective case management at health institutions.
- To conduct ward rounds.
- To provide clinical institutions to Interns, qualified clinicians.
- Comfortably run the emergency medical services and casualty.
- To conduct clinical research with the idea of getting close to evidence-based practice.
- To conduct routine district visits.
- To shoulder in-service training and research programs.
Qualification
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree from a recognised institution and registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
Clinical Officer-Paediatrics

Educational Qualification

Chief Catering Officer
Grade: HI/M7

Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning and costing balanced meals for patients including special diet as may be prescribed by the Doctor.
- Purchasing the right quantity and quality of foodstuff.
- Responsible for food storage in order to avoid wastage.
- Maintenance of up to date record of food ledger and inventory of all kitchen equipment.
- Supervision of Senior Catering Supervisor/Catering Assistants.
- Making occasional visits to wards with an aim of improving catering services.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Applicants must be Serving Senior Catering Officers (Grade J) with a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience or in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Catering, Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management or Bachelor of Arts in Food Science and Nutrition
Senior Community Health Nurse
Grade: HJ

Duties and responsibilities
- Advising Mothers on maternal and child Health and family planning
- Managing mobile clinical services to the Community and School on Health issues.
- Assessing Community Health needs related to sanitation, immunisation, water, homecare, under five, antenatal, Postnatal and nutrition.
- Ensure timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct Health Education to individuals, families and communities.
- Control and monitor resources.
- Supervise Community Health Nurses, subordinates and students Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Community Health Nurse (Grade K) with a minimum of four (4) years’ working experience and must be registered with Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
Clinical Technician-Anaesthesia

- Supervise and evaluate the less experienced in the provision of anaesthesia for all operative and diagnostic procedures.
- Keep records and reports of anaesthesia given
- Keep records on management of clinically ill patients.
- Manage drug and equipment inventory
- Work planning and consultation
- Provide anaesthesia to critical patients and those undergoing surgical procedures
Qualifications
Applicants must be holders of the Diploma in Clinical Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine and must be a registered member with Medical Council of Malawi.
Senior Clinical Technician-Anaesthesia

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Giving anaesthetic services for both minor and major operations on their own
- Running ward rounds for pre, post anaesthesia care.
- Managing cases in HDUs, ICU along with the relevant consulting specialists
- Running bedside clinical teachings in clinical care of anaesthesia students and anaesthesia clinicians.
- Leading in-service training and CPD programs for anaesthesia at a District Hospital.
Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Clinical Technicians-Anaesthesia (Grade HK) with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience at that grade and must be a registered member of the Medical Council of Malawi.
Senior Pharmacy Technician
Grade: HJ

Duties and Responsibilities
- Check stocks and make orders from the bulk store.
- Pre-pack drugs ready for dispensing
- Receive prescription to check the dosage.
- Ensure correct drug storage in main pharmacy stores and wards.
- Manage pharmaceutical supplies for hospital wards and department.
- Control and supervise Junior Staff in the Pharmacy Department.
- Manage ordering, inspection, storage and compounding/ manufacturing of drugs.
- Compiling procedure reports on drugs received and dispensed.
Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Pharmacy Technicians (Grade HK) with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience at that grade and must be a registered member of the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority ( PMRA).
Shorthand Typist/Stenographer

Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Senior Copy Typist (Grade L/M10) or Copy Typist (Grade M/M11) with a minimum of 100 words per minute shorthand certificate and 50 words per minute typing certificate obtained from a recognised institution.
Applicants from outside the service must possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education with at least 100 words per minute shorthand certificate and 50 words per minute typing certificate obtained from a recognised institution.
Competencies
The incumbent is to serve in the office of the Director of Health and Social Services, therefore, he or she must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability. He or she must have good communication skills, computer knowledge, a good sense of humour and well organised.
Assistant Environmental Health Officer
Grade: HK/M 9

Location: Mulanje District Council.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Public Health or fours (4) years’ experience at Environmental Health Assistant (L) level with training in Environmental Health.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The post holder will be responsible to the Secretary for Health and Population through Senior Assistant Environmental Health Officer (J)
For the following duties:
- Plans environmental health activities in an area
- Inspects business and food premises to assess health risks
- Inspects institutions such as hospitals, schools, prisons, orphanages, nurseries etc
- Collects water and food samples for bacteriological examinations and chemical analysis
- Assist in protection of wells and springs and maintenance of water points
- Conducts vector and vermin control activities in an area
- Collects and analyses environmental health data in an area
- Organizes and conducts training for environmental health personnel and VHCs in an area.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Diploma in Public Health or Diploma in Environmental Health accredited institutions and be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
Laboratory Technician
Grade: HK/M 9

Duties and Responsibilities
- Check specimens for their condition, acceptability and appropriateness to the test and exceptions are noted.
- Perform tests according to laboratory standard operating procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure test results are correctly and legibly entered on the patient report forms and laboratory records.
- Run quality controls as per guidelines.
- Complete special assigned work or projects as per instructed.
- Maintain a neat, sanitary and organised work area.
- Keep an adequate supply of working materials on hand.
- Organise work pending and appropriately left for follow up.
- Report all critical values promptly to the client.
- Prepare laboratory working reagents.
- Compile monthly laboratory workload.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
