Cards & Payments Manager

Location: Position will either be based in Blantyre, Malawi or Ebene, Mauritius;
As the Cards & Payments Manager, reporting to the Group Head of Retail and Products, you will be accountable for managing the cards and payments business across FMBcH plc. This role involves driving product development, optimizing financial performance, managing strategic relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The manager will oversee both the Cards and Payments profit and loss, ensuring the business remains competitive and innovative.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and cultivate relationships with key card schemes (e.g., Visa, MasterCard) to ensure strategic alignment and optimal service delivery across the organization.
- Take full ownership of the Cards business unit’s profit and loss, ensuring financial targets are met through effective management and strategic initiatives.
- Spearhead the innovation and development of card products, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer needs from concept to launch.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with mobile transfer agents (MTAs), billers, and other payment partners to facilitate seamless service integration.
- Manage the financial performance of the Payments business, driving growth and ensuring profitability through effective strategy and execution.
- Lead the design and development of payment products and services, adapting to emerging trends and customer preferences to remain competitive.
- Ensure that all card and payment operations comply with relevant regulations, including PCI-DSS, AML, and KYC standards.
- Analyze transaction data and generate reports to optimize card and payment services, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of five years’ experience in cards and payments management, with a proven track record in product development and P&L Management.
- Master’s degree in business administration or related field is preferred
- Professional certifications related to payments (e.g., certified payments professional)
