Job Responsibilities
Training Programmes Specialist – Informal Apprenticeship will be responsibleforeffective and efficient facilitation, promotion and implementation of the Informal Apprenticeship Programs in the region.
KEY DUTIES
a) Annual plans and budgets and reporting
- Participate in the preparation offormulating and implementing weekly, monthly, and quarterly budgets and work plansfor Informal Apprenticeship
- Report progress for the Informal Apprenticeship Programmes in the Region
b) Training delivery
- Facilitate training delivery through appropriate informal apprenticeship programme structures
- Provide technical advice on the management of informal sector training providers Associations (ISTIPAs)
- Facilitate identification of trainees for progression (bridging programmes) from informal to formal apprenticeship
- Facilitate implementation of projects and partnership programmes
- Facilitate and coordinate practical entrepreneurship training for trainees
- Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of external verification
- Facilitate and coordinate assessment of learners’ attainment of knowledge and competences through formal Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
- Identifying and recommending TEVET innovators for promotion and scaling up of innovations.
c) Needs Assessment
- Conduct regular training needs assessments within the informal sector to identify skill gaps and training requirements.
- Gather feedback from participants to continually refine and improve training programmes.
d) Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor training interventions and recommend areas of improvement
- Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of training programmes.
- Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness and success of training initiatives.
- Manage the database and profiles of the accredited trainers, key stakeholders and interventions under the Informal Apprenticeship
- Programme interventions in the Region.
- Manage the database and profiles of trainees and beneficiaries of the Informal Apprenticeship Programmes.
e) Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with communities and stakeholders in the informal sector.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure training programmes are aligned with the challenges and opportunities of the informal economy.
- Establish a coordinated approach to informal apprenticeship programme implementation where all stakeholders’ interfaces.
Job Context
Reporting to the Senior Training Programmes Specialist (South)
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education (Technical, Humanities, Science, Agriculture), Social Sciences, Development studies, Political Science or other related field
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Additional Requirements
- Proven experience designing and delivering training programmes, particularly for the informal sector, in TEVET.
- Understanding of the challenges and dynamics of the informal economy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Strong ICT and Database Management Skills
