Job Responsibilities

Planning and Research Development Specialist – (Lilongwe) is responsible for designing and conducting TEVET developmental and action research, as well as the development of accompanying tools, research dissemination systems and corporate planning and budgeting framework.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting development and reviews of policies, regulations, and procedures relating to TEVET programs and plans.
  • Preparing annual plans and budgets in line with TEVETA Strategic Plansand medium- and long-term national development priorities.
  • Facilitate the development of TEVETA’s Strategic Plans and other relevant strategic documents.
  • Facilitate the development of a Research agenda for the TEVET sector and coordinate the implementation of the same.
  • Conducting demand-driven surveys and dissemination of research and survey findings.
  • Providing technical support to TEVET providers and stakeholders on the implementation of the research agenda and graduate Tracer studies.
  • Compiling labour market and TEVET-related statistics.
  • Performing economic analysis to determine the contribution of the TEVET sector to the economy.
  • Compiling topical and generic reports.
  • Facilitating the establishment of partnerships and funding mechanisms for research.
  • Compiling of sectional and organization weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans.
  • Identifying and implementing technological advances with the potential to improve the implementation of research functions.
  • Preparing sectional budgets, work plans and progress reports; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Context

Reporting to the Head of Planning and Research

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Economics,Statistics, Development Studies, Demography and/or any other related field,

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Planning and Research.

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups; and
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages and statistical packages kobo Toolbox, SPSS, Stata, Excell etc
