Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) is a local, non-governmental organization providing youth friendly sexual and reproductive health rights, information, and services. FPAM’s vision is a Malawian society with access to quality and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and information.
FPAM is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.
FINANCE OFFICER
Department: Finance and Administration
Reporting to:Â Finance Manager
Basis of Employment: Annual Contract
I. Overall Objective:
The role of the Finance Officer is to assist in developing and maintain strong and effective financial management systems and internal control systems while capturing, updating and reconciling financial transactions.
II. Specific duties
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets.
- Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions.
- Preparing payments by verifying documents and requesting disbursements.
- Preparing special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information.
- Posting data into SAGE Accounting package on Daily basis
- Checking and verification of all cash liquidation from FPAM staff.
- Ensure adherence to approved financial policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
- Reviewing payments, advances, inter-office charges, cash and bank reconciliations based on proper supporting documentation on regular basis.
- Being a point of contact with other departments on financial and accounting matters
- Adhere to all safeguarding policies and principles while executing his/her duties.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Minimum of Diploma in accounting or equivalent obtained from a reputable institution.
- At least 3 years’ post qualification experience in a busy donor funded organization.
- Hands on knowledge of sage or nay accounting software is desirable.
- Experience in managing donor funded projects is a must.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
