Post: Field Production Supervisor

Purpose of the Role

The role holder is responsible for managing field production activities and process to ensure the achievement of high quality and quantity targets. This includes sourcing and managing laborers, providing agronomic expertise during field operations and controlling costs of field operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing on-field agronomic and crop protection expertise throughout the growing season.
• Recruiting, training and allocating tasks to laborers and also evaluating field production operations regularly to achieve targets/objectives and goals.
• Controlling of costs in field activities pursuant to set budgets.
• Collecting, management and utilization of agronomic, performance and weather data for repository and future decision making.
• Carrying out progressive yield estimates at different stages.
• Development of field operations plan and ensuring that all activities are done on time and are executed to absolute perfection
• Making sure safety measures are being observed during farm activities and ensuring that all human rights are being observed as well.
• Developing field budgets and controlling the cost of field production in accordance with the specified budgets.
• Preparation of weekly, Bi-weekly field activity report, monthly and ad-hoc reports.

Qualification, Skills and Competencies

• Minimum of Diploma in agricultural sciences or equivalent.
• At least 3 years field production experience at supervisory level preferably in commercial and seed maize, soybeans, groundnuts and tobacco.
• Must be a holder of a valid motorcycle license.
• Must be prepared to live in rural areas within the central region.
• Must be willing to work during odd hours.
• Skilled at leading, managing conflict and negotiating with cross functional teams.
• Deliver results in a changing environment
• Problem solving skills.
• Must be of sober habits.

Duration
