National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA)’s mandate is to deliver a stable, secure and affordable fuel supply in Malawi. Its main activities, include:

  • Management and replenishment of the Country’s 60 million litres Strategic Fuel Reserves (SFRs). These SFRs are situated in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu, and smaller depots in Chilumba, Chipoka and Mchinji.
  • Procuring and handling fuel importation fuel and related logistics.
  • Provision of hospitality to facilitate distribution of petroleum products in the country.

NOCMA is wholly owned by Malawi Government. It is established under the Company’s Act of 1984. NOCMA was incorporated on the 10th of December 2010 and commenced its operations in 2012. NOCMA

Over the past thirteen (13) years, the Company has grown tremendously in its national strategic importance with its fuel importation market share growing from ten percent (10%) in 2015 to an average of sixty-five percent (65%) in 2023/2024 and this has been matched with growth in institutional capacity and investments to enable efficiency and effectiveness in executing its mandate.
In its drive to ensure improved and sustained efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of its mandate, NOCMA is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following highly rewarding posts that have arisen within the Company.

TEMPORARY GROUNDSMAN (NOC11) – CODE: TG092024 – (Tenable at Lilongwe Depot (1 post) and Blantyre Depot (1 post)

PURPOSE

To maintain the cleanliness and appearance of depot premises through landscaping, gardening, and general maintenance, ensuring a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment that aligns with company standards.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintain clean, tidy, and litter-free outdoor areas of the depot.
2. Perform landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, and weeding to enhance the depot’s appearance and ensure an inviting environment.
3. Plant, water, fertilize, and care for flowers, shrubs, and grass to ensure their health and vibrancy.
4. Prepare grounds for seasonal changes by cleaning gutters, applying mulch, and handling weather-related debris.
5. Maintain grounds equipment and promptly report any repair needs or safety hazards.
6. Follow health and safety regulations, ensuring proper use of PPE and adherence to environmental standards.
7. Assist with depot events and activities by ensuring the grounds are well-maintained and supporting other tasks as needed.

REPORTING LINE AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position reports to the Depot Clerk and has no supervisory responsibility.

PERSON

The required candidate should have the following competences, skills, and attributes:

a) Drive for results – Ability to commit to action and assume responsibility and ownership for own performance and the associated outcomes.
b) Works collaboratively with others.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

a) Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
b) A minimum of one (1) year’s work experience in a similar role.
