BOARDING MATRON

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of personal conduct in the boarding hostels, in accordance with school policies
• Make it a homely, purposeful and safe atmosphere within the hostels
• Induct new borders and liaise closely with their parents before, during and after their arrival at the school.
• Refer medical matters to the Principal or Operations Manager and arrange doctor appointments and at times accompany students to the hospital or doctor’s appointment
• Be proactive in seeking to create excellent personal relationships with borders, their parents and/or guidance
• Oversee the academic needs of all students in the boarding house and act in liaison with parents for boarders during term time
• Carry out daytime, evening and weekend duties as agreed with the Principal. Also to ensure maximum supervision during prep time and weekend activities

Academics

• Maintain an active interest in the academic progress of boarders and interceding on their behalf as required, for instance, by attending parents’ consultations etc.
• Liaise closely with members of teaching staff across the school, as well as administrative staff and auxiliary staff to ensure the smooth running of the hostels
• Feedback to parents formally, as part of the school’s reporting procedures

Experience

• 3-5 Years experience in a boarding facility
