VACANCIES FOR LECTURER POSITIONS

The Malawi School of Government (MSG) is a unique higher education Statutory Corporation established through Act of Parliament No. 33 of 2022. Our primary mission is to play a pivotal role in shaping Malawi’s present and future by developing and delivering human resource development programmes and enhancing the capacity of the public and private sectors through education and training, research, consultancy, and advisory services.

Malawi School of Government is a hybrid institution that offers induction, refresher, promotional and other professional training programmes to public and private sector officers.

It also inherited academic diplomas and degree programmes from the former Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) and Staff Development Institute (SDI). Currently, the School has five Masters Degree programmes in the following areas: Management, Strategic Management, Project Management, ICT, Business Administration, and International Relations and Diplomacy. In its quest for excellence and quality education, MSG would like to recruit suitably qualified and highly motivated candidates at lecturer level in the following areas:

  1. Lecturer in Public Administration
  2. Lecturer in Management
  3. Lecturer in International Relations and Diplomacy or Political Science
  4. Lecturer in Project Management

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching and Assessment

  1. Develop and review curriculum and teaching and learning materials.
  2. Provide effective tutorial to students at various levels and conduct internal and external examinations and assessments.
  3. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects.
  4. Design and training deliver professional programmes in the relevant area of expertise.

Research, Consultancy, and Advisory Services

  1. Initiate and undertake research projects, consultancies, and advisory activities.
  2. Translate research findings into actionable policy recommendations for policy stakeholders.
  3. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed academic journals, policy briefs, and other relevant outlets.
  4. Provide advisory services to clients by offering insights and strategic recommendations.
  5. Collaborate with external partners to develop joint initiatives, secure funding, and expand the School’s reach and impact.

QUALIFICATION AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES

  • Candidates must have a Masters Degree in any of the following areas: Public Administration, Political Science, Project Management, and Management from an accredited or recognised University by the National Council for Higher Education.
  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of teaching, research, and consultancy experience in an academic institution.
