INTRODUCTION

Luke International (LIN) works to restore human’s health and dignity through building bridges between local and international development partners, creating interfaces between health and technology, advocating and serving where the greatest needs are.

Through the Diabetes Compass project being funded by the World Diabetes Foundation, Luke International has developed a point of care digital system for the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as a microservice in the Malawi HealthCare Information System (MaHIS) for the Malawi Ministry of Health in the first phase of the project.

In the second phase of the project, LIN will assist the Ministry of Health to implement the NCD management digital solution in Ntchisi, Karonga and Salima health facilities as a pilot. Therefore, LIN seeks the services of individual IT consultants to assist in carrying out the work in the second phase of the Diabetes Compass project.

DURATION: Phase II of the Diabetes Compass project will run 3 to 4 months.

3. CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINER

3.1 Duties

  • Conduct assessments to identify the skills and knowledge gaps among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Gather input from project managers, team leads, and stakeholders to understand training requirements
  • Design and develop training programs tailored to the specific needs of the project and the participants
  • Create comprehensive training materials, including manuals, and presentations.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars, both in-person and online.
  • Utilize various training methods (e.g., hands-on training, demonstrations, role-playing) to enhance learning
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback surveys, assessments, and performance metrics
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders to provide updates on capacity-building initiatives and progress
  • Ensure that all stakeholders are informed about training schedules, objectives, and outcomes
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on capacity-building activities, including progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Identify and implement best practices and innovative approaches to enhance capacity-building efforts.

3.2 Skills and Competencies

  • Should have knowledge of Prevention Against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment, and be willing to undergo relevant training and adhere to the policy.
  • Strong understanding of IT concepts, systems, and technologies relevant to the project
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity practices
  • Expertise in designing and delivering training programs tailored to diverse audiences
  • Skills in assessing training needs and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs through data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex IT concepts to non-technical audiences

3.3 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • ITIL Foundation (for IT service management training) will be advantageous
  • 3-5 years of experience in training and development, preferably within the IT field.
