Luke International (LIN)

INTRODUCTION

Luke International (LIN) works to restore human’s health and dignity through building bridges between local and international development partners, creating interfaces between health and technology, advocating and serving where the greatest needs are.

Through the Diabetes Compass project being funded by the World Diabetes Foundation, Luke International has developed a point of care digital system for the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as a microservice in the Malawi HealthCare Information System (MaHIS) for the Malawi Ministry of Health in the first phase of the project.

In the second phase of the project, LIN will assist the Ministry of Health to implement the NCD management digital solution in Ntchisi, Karonga and Salima health facilities as a pilot. Therefore, LIN seeks the services of individual IT consultants to assist in carrying out the work in the second phase of the Diabetes Compass project.

DURATION: Phase II of the Diabetes Compass project will run 3 to 4 months.

2. DEPLOYMENT AND SUPPORT OFFICER

2.1 Duties

  • Develop detailed deployment plans and schedules for new hardware, software, and systems.
  • Coordinate with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment processes.
  • Install and configure hardware components such as servers, workstations, and networking devices
  • Deploy software applications and ensure they are properly configured according to industry standards.
  • Conduct pre-deployment testing to identify and resolve potential issues
  • Validate deployments to ensure that systems are functioning as expected and meeting performance criteria
  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, patch management, and system backups
  • Respond to and manage IT incidents, including logging, tracking, and resolving issues using an incident management system
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level support or specialized teams when necessary
  • Conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems, applications, and best practices.
  • Develop user manuals, FAQs, and other training materials to assist users
  • Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripheral devices

2.2 Skills and Competencies

  • Should have knowledge of Prevention Against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment, and be willing to undergo relevant training and adhere to the policy.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Understanding of computer hardware components, servers, networking devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Familiarity with operating systems especially Linux and software applications
  • Ability to install, configure, and support various software applications and tools
  • Knowledge of network protocols, IP addressing, and network configuration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues

2.3 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or a similar role
