The Agricultural Research and Extension Trust (ARET) is Malawi’s premier institution in tobacco research, extension and training services. Established in 1995 and funded primarily by tobacco growers, ARET’s core activities include development and dissemination of tobacco technologies and training of tobacco stakeholders to sustain and improve agricultural productivity while conserving the natural resources.
An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated professionals with requisite academic qualifications and technical expertise to fill vacant positions as follows:
STORES ASSISTANT
Job Purpose
The person will be responsible for controlling and maintaining the outlook of the stores department by cleaning and restocking shelves. The position is tenable in Kasungu.
Key Functions
- Receive all goods and materials, checking identifying and recording them in the Stores Receipt Vouchers (SRV) or Goods Received Note (GRN).
- Keep stocks in such a way that they can be easily located when required and that they are kept in good condition.
- Issue goods from Stores as and when required, and on proper authority.
- Keep Stock records of Receipts and Issues
- In liaison with Heads of Departments, make request for re-ordering when stocks are below minimum levels.
- Ensure proper and prompt claims, for damages, shortages and defects in goods received.
- Identify and report all slow moving and obsolete items.
- Report to Management any suspected pilferages
Qualifications and Experience
- MSCE plus
- Certificate in Purchasing (CIPS) or Stores Management.
- At least three years’ relevant experience
